Pest Management in Chepachet
Pest control and management refers to any system or measure that seeks to eliminate or regulate the population of insects considered harmful to human and animal health and the environment. Pest control in Chepachet RI requires a lot of work and resources but it is a necessity, especially for homes. Here are the reasons why pest management is important and why every homeowner should consider applying it:
1. Preventing damage to homes and structures
In the U.S., people spend about $5 billion for the repair of damages caused by termite infestation. Termites consume wood and wood products such as ply-board and paper. Once they have burrowed into the wood components of the home, they can eat beams, floorings and walls from the inside. This makes the structure weak and vulnerable to collapse, leaving household members at a risk. Termite infestation can be especially problematic in older homes and structures that have not been treated. In areas where termites are known pests, managing a home to keep it safe from termites requires constant vigilance and assistance from pest control agencies.
2. Preventing allergies
Pests can cause a range of issues in people, such as skin allergies, asthma and other respiratory problems. Bed bugs and mosquitoes, for example, are notorious for causing skin rashes. Pests can also carry certain allegens that can cause strong allergic reactions in some people. Cockroaches, for example, can cause allergies in at least 7% of the population. They are also one of the leading causes of asthma in children.
3. Avoiding diseases and other health risks
Leprosy, skin infections, urinary tract infections, Lyme disease, intestinal infections, dysentery, dengue, malaria and food poisoning are just a few of the diseases and health problems that pests can cause. They also carry a number of bacteria and viruses that can affect human and animal health. Although many of these diseases are treatable, they can cause serious health issues in children, the elderly and immune-compromised individuals, many of whom will require professional medical treatment or hospitalization. That, in turn, can translate to millions of dollars in medical costs.
4. Preventing damage and deterioration of furniture, carpets and clothes
Pest control has to be applied in order to save furniture, carpets and clothing and avoid the expenses associated with repairs and replacements. Burrowing insects are notorious for causing damage to the wooden and fabric components of furniture. Some, such as carpet bugs, moths, cockroaches and silverfish are also attracted to fabric, often using it as a source of food.
5. Maintenance of food supply
Food supply is critical to the survival of the world’s populations. On a macro economic level, it also influences the world’s economies and supports majority of today’s active industries. Without proper pest management, almost 20% of our food supply will be wasted due to consumption of rodents. Each year, millions of dollars’ worth of food is lost to rodent attacks and infestation. By controlling the threat, it is possible to keep food supplies at manageable and useful levels. On the Chepachet Rhode Island home-front, implementing pest control measures can help prevent food waste and contamination. Pests do not only consume food, they also leave behind undesirable organic matter such as dead skin, body parts, feces and urine, all of which can affect the quality of the food we eat.

Some Common Q & A’s
Are These Flea Bites?
Or Bed Bugs Or What?
Yes they are flea bites.
It's important to keep the affected area clean. Wash the bites with some antiseptic lotion or soap. Use cold water but avoid the use of warm or hot water as this may tend to stimulate itch. Then apply a cold pack over the bites to reduce swelling. Do not scratch the inflamed area as this may lead to open wounds and secondary infections.
If the affected area is read and swollen, you may apply a mild steroid cream like 1% hydrocortisone cream. This should be easily available from any pharmacy without the need of a prescription. Hydrocortisone helps in reducing inflammation rapidly. Alternatively, if you have a bottle of calamine lotion at home, this may help too.
Very often, the itch caused by the fleabites can be very intense. An oral dose of anti-histamine like Dimetapp, Chlortrimeton is very effective in relieving itch. Once the itch stops, you will stop scratching as well and the healing will take place faster.
Treatment of flea bites using these home remedies should improve within a few days, However, if the condition worsen whereby, they remained red and swollen with discharges, then a trip to your family doctor may be necessary. Your doctor may prescribe a course of antibiotics for you and a jab of steroid may be needed to stop the inflammation.
However, success in treating flea bites is by no means a solution to your problem. To avoid further bites from these little pesky creatures, the only solution is to get rid of them totally. Killing fleas in house, getting rid of fleas on pets is what you need to do as part of your flea extermination.
How Do I Prepare For Pest Control With A Six Month Old Baby?
I Received Notice That My Apartment Building Will Be Sprayed For Bed Bugs An I Have An Infant So Im Afraid Of The Chemicals Getting On His Toys/Swing/Clothes/Crib Etc. What Can I Do To Ensure That His Things Wont Be Covered In Poison Other Than Taking Everything Out The House?
I am a pest controller.
If they are treating your property they should treat every room as that is the only way to be certain that the bedbug infestation will be exterminated throughout.
I would advise that any toys and items like that are bagged up in sealed bags, If possible move them to a family members property whilst the treatment takes place but ensure you check each toy before hand for bedbugs so as not to spread bedbugs, or, if possible with things that can be washed and wont be damaged wash what you can at as high temp as you can, then bag and move.
If you have no where to take these things, just check them, wash if possible and bag them, must be sealed bags. Store them until the treatment ends. It sounds a pain but if this is not done, also to clothing, then these infestations can carry on and treatments go on and on.
Wash everything at as high a temp as you can before bagging it, then only take clothing out of bags when needed to wear, re seal bag and continue to do this until treatment has ended.

Has Anybody Had Exterminators Come To There House And Spray?
I Need To Know Before The Exterminators Come What All Needs To Be Done On The Inside Of The House To Make His Visit A Good Visit And He Don;T Have To Return For A Year
Preparing for Your Exterminator:
To prepare for your inspection, there are a few things you can do:
* Remove any items from under the sinks in the bathrooms and kitchen.
* Remove any items within two feet of the exterior of the house.
* Move any items away from the garage walls to the center of the garage. This should eliminate us recommending a further inspection of the garage walls.
* Trim back any bushes or ground cover that conceals the walls or foundation.
* If you have a crawl space or an attic with standing room, make sure that the access opening is not blocked. If the access opening is located in a closet, make sure that all clothing and storage items are removed beforehand to make them accessible for the inspector.
* If your home is on a raised foundation, the inspector will go under the house and will need access.
